We are excited to announce that Dr. Lanise Block is featuring in the 5th Volume of the Fearless Commerce Book, released on October 1st. Fearless Commerce provides access to content, connections, and commerce to support Black women throughout their business-building journey. It was born out of the desire to see more Black Women celebrated and invested in for their accomplishments.
They amplify the products and services offered by Black Women and the circumstances impacting their businesses. They also empower others to step out and transcend all barriers that may get in the way.

Please describe your business: We are an organization that provides robust solutions for corporate, educational, and organizational leaders struggling with the challenges of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) as well as strategic planning. Sankore Consulting is committed, through intensive research-based best practices, to deliver innovative ideas for inclusion and impact. Our focus is on organizational planning with an emphasis on diversity, inclusion, racial equity, and social justice.
What led your decision to start your business? I started Sankore Consulting to help organizational leaders center diversity equity and inclusion in their policies, practices and procedures. As an educator I saw first hand the impact inequity had on the lives of my students and their families and I wanted to do something about it. We have seen throughout history and in recent events how necessary DEI work is in every facet of our society. At Sankore Consulting, we believe that you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results. That is why I use innovative strategies to help organizational leaders understand how to make courageous equity decisions and implement inclusive strategies.
What keeps you going? What drives you? Developing and implementing successful projects that result in organizations and their constituents experiencing better outcomes is what drives me to continue this work.
How would you describe your brand? I want to project a brand that is focused on being in partnership with my clients. I believe knowledge and expertise are inherent and organic. “All of us are smarter that one of us”. Collectively we have the solution.
What is your vision for your business? My vision includes developing a cadre of independent leaders from all walks of life who are dedicated to service and armed with the tools of strategic thinking and creativity for optimum inclusivity.
What would you tell your younger self about entrepreneurship? Make being and entrepreneur a goal, then to pay attention to the business aspect of having a business. Chart the path for the future.
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date? My greatest professional accomplishment to date is the ability to determine how I use my time. To decide what I devote my time, energy, skills and knowledge to in my work. This is very important to me, to be able to say yes and make arrangements to be a part of the projects that are most closely aligned with my values and with my heart.
